The Fire Mountain Timanfaya
Timanfaya was the site of the last volcanic eruption and it is open to the public 7 days a week and well worth a visit. Once you arrive there are bus tours leaving regularly that take you through the incredible volcanic landscape. There is a restaurant where fresh meats are cooked over the heat from the volcano.
Monumento Al Campesino Museum
The Monumento al Campesino has a very good tapas bar dedicated to the local dishes that are traditional to the island. There are also a very good museum showing the handicrafts of the island like basket weaving, agriculture and pottery.
Cueva De Los Verdes
Take a tour through the ancient underground lava tunnels that the islanders used as a hiding place when invaded by pirates.
Jameos Del Agua
Designed by Cesar Manrique it is the home of the blind crabs unique to Lanzarote. There is a natural auditorium where concerts are often held and a good place to view the architecture of Cesar Manrique.
Jardin de Cactus
Set in the cactus field in the north of the island which were used for the cultivation and harvest of cochineal, a beetle used for the production of a red dye. The garden is home to over 1400 different types of cacti.
Castillo De San Jose
Arrecife’s ancient castle and home to a permanent art exhibition and restaurant that over looks the port of Arrecife.
Mirador Del Rio
The mirador is one of the highest points of the island and is a lookout over the neighbouring island of La Graciosa.
